The Mooney Suzuki’s “Have Mercy”

The countdown is on for the Mooney Suzuki’s long awaited fourth studio album, Have Mercy on Elixia Records. The album, which has already been garnering critical raves, is slated to hit stores on June 19th. However, iTunes users can purchase Have Mercy beginning June 12th with an exclusive one-week pre-release. In addition, the digital release of the album will include a total of four never before heard bonus tracks, two of which will also be included on the physical version of the album.

“Leap of Faith,” “You Never Really Wanted to Rock n’ Roll,” “Caroline,” and “Say That You Will” are previously unreleased tracks recorded by the Mooney Suzuki during studio sessions for Have Mercy.

Sammy James, Jr. comments on the decision to include bonus material on both the physical and digital versions of the release:

“It was not easy leaving “Leap of Faith” and “You Never Really Wanted to Rock ‘n’ Roll” off the original tracklist [when the record was slated for release on V2], but we [originally] wanted to keep it to a lean and mean 10 songs.

The title “Caroline” had kind of been the unloved, bastard child of the bunch, but eventually grew on us.

The album Have Mercy came together in tribute to Graham Tyler’s father, Robert, who passed away in 2005. He had always been a huge supporter and one of our greatest influences. “Say That You Will” was originally written and performed by Robert’s own high school band, so we wanted to record our version of the song in his memory.”

If current single “99%” is any indication, Have Mercy is bound to be the Mooney Suzuki’s best album yet. The band will be taking the new material on the road in a nationwide tour of the USA with The Photo Atlas and The Dark Romantics followed by selected dates in Europe. For a sneak peek of what to expect, see Blender’s footage of the band’s SXSW performance below.

How Can Hip-Hop Be Dead if Wu-Tang is Forever?

London, England - Bodog Music is proud to announce the European signing of legendary hip-hop crew Wu-Tang Clan. Bodog Music will release The 8 Diagrams, Wu-Tang's first studio album in 6 years, in Germany on September 7, with a separate release in the UK and the rest of Europe on September 10.

The album contains new tracks by the eight remaining original members, as well as unreleased vocals by the late Ol' Dirty Bastard, which were recorded during sessions for the group's first album. There will also be a tribute song to ODB called "Life Changes."

"This is really what Bodog Music is all about: Hip-hop at its highest," says Bodog founder Calvin Ayre, who along with Wu-Tang's international representative Eva Ries, has closed a deal that will advertise the Wu-Tang brand and turn Bodog Music into an ambitious hip-hop label. "With the Wu-Tang Clan being the widely respected and revered group that they are, and Bodog's international music distribution expertise, the potential of this relationship in unlimited. Wu-Tang Clan still ain't nothing to f#@k with."

Ayre's sentiments are echoed by Wu-Tang producer RZA who says, "The RZA himself has called upon his Wu-Tang brothers to reunite and show the real unity and raw force of hip-hop. How can hip-hop be dead if Wu-Tang is Forever?"

Bodog Music's marketing competence will be a big lift to Wu-Tang in Europe, as the record label signed the group exclusively for European releases, with distribution via Pinnacle in the UK and EDEL for the rest of the continent.

After a two year hiatus, the hip-hop collective will be touring Europe this summer, including two UK shows at the Hammersmith Apollo on July 5 and the Manchester Apollo on July 6. Appearing live will be original Wu-Tang members, Ghostface Killah, RZA, GZA, Raekwon, Method Man, Inspectah Deck, Masta Killa, U-God and Cappadona. This summer the crew hits the road in the U.S. with Rage Against The Machine and Public Enemy.

Debuting in 1993, the Staten Island, NY-based Wu-Tang Clan is one of the most revolutionary hip-hop acts of all time. Throwing out the pre-established formulas for breaking a rap group, Wu-Tang methodically released each album while cultivating the solo careers of all nine MCs.

After its breakthrough album, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), the Clan reconvened in 1997 for the much-anticipated double-album Wu-Tang Forever, which simultaneously shot straight to #1 in the US and UK charts. In 2000, the group released The W, which included the hit single Gravel Pit and most recently, Iron Flag in 2001.

Emerging Artist Nya Jade Launches the NYA Foundations To Support The Welfare of African Youth Orphaned By AIDS/HIV

San Francisco, CA (April 23, 2007) – San Francisco-based music phenom Nya Jade announces today the launch of the Nurturing Young Africa (NYA) Foundation, created to support the welfare of African children orphaned by HIV/AIDS and other circumstances.

Nya’s fundraising efforts for her foundation include a new jewelry collection designed in collaboration by Nya and the modern, sculptural jewelry design company RedStart Design.

Riding on the success of her recent song and music video release Live, Nya Jade aims to use her reputation in the music industry to increase awareness of disadvantaged children in Africa and to inspire her fans to reach out to them.

Through Live and the other songs on her debut album, My Denial, Nya Jade uses a witty and intuitive lyrical voice to comment on society and it’s ideals of contentedness. The newly released Live music video encourages listeners to “live for the moment” as it shows a young boy going through the motions of a corporate existence. As the video ends we learn the young protagonist is actually a grown man who fancies himself a little boy. Nya’s message explores the restrictions our civilized society places on individuals. Live is currently in rotation on VH1-Soul and BETJ.

But Nya Jade was pushing the envelope from the beginning. Early in her career, Jade was discouraged because the music industry seemed more a platform for self-marketing than self-expression. She founded her own record label, Katako Records, with the support of former Atlantic Records President Ron Shapiro to maintain her independent artist status as she launched her first album. In 2006 Nya Jade released her debut album My Denial, which almost instantly earned its place on VH1.com’s top 20 albums.

For further information on Nya Jade and the NYA Foundation visit www.nyajade.com and www.myspace.com/nyajade. Jade’s new video Live can be viewed on her Web page.

'Live' video stream: Watch

About Nya Jade:

San Francisco-based singer/songwriter Nya Jade has already drawn acclaim throughout the Bay Area for her unique music, a bold blend of sounds utterly unbound by genre, unified by Nya's passionate, perceptive vocals. As an entrepreneur, Nya is also at the helm of the new "do-it-yourself" movement in music and major national critics are taking notice. Born in the West African country of Ghana and raised around the world, this Stanford educated artist created her own record label to do music her way. The duality of working as both artist and record label head has made her an exciting person to watch in the ever changing landscape of the music industry.

A pre-med student until a life changing car-accident, Nya channelled pain and suffering into a determination to follow a dream. Graduating from Stanford with both a bachelors in Economics and a masters in Sociology Nya did a brief stint in the big corporate world. Still passionate about music, Nya secured funding from a Silicon Valley Venture Capitalist to create her record label Katako Records. With her label in place, Nya set her eyes on A-List manager Ron Shapiro, former President of Atlantic Records and industry innovator. Armed with great management and her own label, Nya released her debut album, My Denial.

Cruising effortlessly through irresistible ballads, buoyant rock, and soulful pop symphonies, Nya's debut album "My Denial" stands as a potent introduction to a resourceful and gifted young artist. My Denial landed on Vh1.com's Top 20 Album's list and continues to receive industry accolades. Nya has opened for artist such as Dave Matthews and Maroon 5.

An Intelligent Commentary: Cam’Ron on 60 Minutes

Now that Hiphop has become the fall guy and girl for teaching old ass Don Imus how to say “nappy-headed wench” oops I mean “hoe”, and for turning young girls and women into strippers so we can exploit them in our videos even though strip clubs and stripping predates Hiphop by at least 5000 years, and for introducing and making the word nigger popular amongst Americans of all ages, I guess the next logical step is to blame Hiphop for law enforcements agencies inability and unwillingness to solve the assaults, rapes, and murders in our communities…

As we all know by now rapper Cam'Ron appeared on 60 minutes with Anderson Cooper to discuss "Snitching" and the street "code of ethics." The interview plays out as if Cam'Ron and other black youth in America's inner-cities are the originators and inventors of this "Code of Silence" concept. It also gives off the misguided and completely false impression that this "Code of Silence" or "street code of ethics" is a precept or principle of Hiphop culture and the Black community in general. We can NOT let this manipulative and calculated interview go unchecked and unchallenged. Our community has a great range and diversity of opinions, ideas, and thoughts, but most people would never know this because the media only chooses to only focus on the pimp, thug, and nigga points of view. The overwhelming majority of our communities are filled to the brim with good and hard working people who would never willing stand on the side of fucking serial killers and drug dealing murders over the lives of their children. There are literally thousands of men, women, and children who stand on the front lines of this struggle every single day to fight the senseless killing that is destroying our communities. Please don’t let this man’s warped view of “ethics” speak for us as a group….

Now let me say this, if the black community does not understand that the policy makers of America; not those you elect to "represent" you, they are just decoration, but the real shaper's of American policy, make no distinction between what is Hiphop and what is BLACK.

The black community is being set-up for apartheid like conditions with Hiphop being used as the RED HERRING! This marshalling of the black community is being marketed in the same way that the war in Iraq was marketed, in that, the "evil" dictator "tyrant" Suddam Hussein was harboring "weapon's of mass destruction" or WMD's! When the real goal was control of Iraqi oil and strategic positioning in the race for global conquest!

Symbolically, Hiphop is the new “evil" tyrant of the black community responsible for creating and imposing prison, drug and gang "cultures" (symbolically WMD's) on unsuspecting black men, women and children! When the real goal is the complete isolation of an "unnecessary" population whose value and worth outside of the prison system seems to be coming to a rapid end. Please GET THE BOOKS "Who Needs the Negro" by Sidney Wilhelm and "The Celling of America" by Burton-Rose, Pens and Wright

Now, let’s get back to Cam'Ron and the code of “ethics”/silence "issue."

This whole concept of to snitch or not to snitch is NOT new and it certainly DID NOT originate in the Hiphop and Black communities. Cam’Ron’s stance is an exact copy of the police department's unofficial official position and commitment to the "Blue Wall" or "Code of Silence". The police never tell on each other and they will absolutely demonize, ostracize and in some cases attack any and all cops who have the courage to Step up and Speak up against police misconduct. This is the main reason for the creation of the Internal Affairs division inside the police department to investigate the criminality within its ranks. Cam’Ron should have been on 60 minutes flanked by 2 cops because they share the same “street code of ethics”. The media’s hypocrisy is numbing sometimes…

Here goes a brief breakdown of what I’m talking about…

The Blue Wall of Silence is the name coined to describe the perceived propensity of Police Officers to unite by limiting their cooperation with investigators when one of their own is accused of impropriety. Police officers refusing to testify against another police officer are instructed to give the "Standard Police Answer", that they can not recall anything that has happened.

A Code of Silence is when someone, usually with some sort of authority or power, but not always, witnesses or is privy to the knowledge of an illegal or embarrassing act, but puts comradely, or loyalty to the "unit" (which can be police, military, gangs, among other things) above informing the public, or proper authorities.

The code of silence is usually either kept because of threat of force, or danger to oneself, or being branded as a traitor or an outcast within the unit or organization as the experiences of the police whistleblower, Frank Serpico illustrates…Please read Serpico (Paperback) by Peter Maas and Eyes to My Soul: The Rise or Decline of a Black FBI Agent (Paperback) by Tyrone Powers

The purpose of this article is NOT to give Cam’Ron and his mentality an excuse for its irresponsible, insensitive, and reckless comments, all I’m trying to do is make sure that the Hiphop/Black community as a whole is not left holding the bag once again for the creation and practice of something that pre-dates it by a 100 or more years!

We have to step up and get control over our image or the media will continue to portray us as a gang of brutal ignorant savages who sit around all day and disrespect women and let criminals run rampant inside its community without a care in the world. Family this is a very fixable problem all we have to do is focus our attention and highlight the people in our communities whose views motivate black youth toward positive and intelligent attitudes and lifestyles. The media is going to do what it does regardless, but if we start reppin Intelligence like we repped ignorance these type of bullshit ass interviews won’t fuckin matter!

Mistah F.A.B. readies his highly anticipated release, DA BAYDESTRIAN

San Francisco, CA, April 16, 2007 - Although Mistah F.A.B. has endured much scrutiny in the national press over the past few months for his single, “Ghost Ride It”, he prepares himself for his upcoming release on Faeva Afta/SMC Recordings this May with DA BAYDESTRIAN.

Recording his album - DA BAYDESTRIAN in record time, the release will also feature FAB's infamous DVD, “The Freestyle King” as a bonus as well as a “Yellow Bus Pass” to download his breakthrough album “Son of a Pimp” for free. FAB explains why he decided to add extra features to his album, “"I'm puttin the Bonus DVD and free download of 'Son Of A Pimp' in there because that's the album that got my buzz crazy in the Bay. We're sayin' DA BAYDESTRIAN is the prequel to Da Yellow Bus Rydah so I wanna give you as much of me to get you ready for that."
DA BAYDESTRIAN will feature production by Rob-E, Sean-T, Traxxamillion, Young L among others and guest appearances from Too Short, Keak Da Sneak, Fabo from D4L, Mesy Marv and Spice 1. FAB's next track off the album, “Get This Shit Together” has already been leaked on line and has been popping up on West coast radio stations. FAB wants everyone to know, “DA BAYDESTRIAN is for all the fans that's been waiting for the last two years for something new. It's a project that's gonna rep the Bay to the fullest no strings attached and show everyone there's more to me than just goin' dumb. People forget that I really spit and think that all I do is ride Da Yellow Bus".
Never one to slow down, F.A.B. is already back in the studio working on his major label debut, “Da Yellow Bus Rydah” being released on Atlantic Records, "I know everyone is like what's up with the whole Atlantic deal? Yes, Atlantic is goin' to drop "Da Yellow Bus Rydah", DA BAYDESTRIAN is just the in between process. The music business is crazy. I'm puttin my heart into it, so to all the fans just be patient and post up at the bus stop".
DA BAYDESTRIAN is being released on Faeva Afta/ Thizz Nation/ SMC Recordings and will hit streets May 15th.

Getting Schooled on Mistah F.A.B.

Born and raised in Oakland, CA, FAB encountered his first taste of fame when he entered The Source Magazine's “Unsigned Hype Freestyle Battle” in 1999 and placed 3rd. This brought him to the attention of a local
Bay Area based label - Straight Hits, who signed him in 2001. FAB released his first underground album with the label in 2003 entitled, “Nig-Latin”.

Bay Area legend, Mac Dre took notice of this fledgling rapper and enlisted him as one of the original members of the Thizz Nation. With the backing of this renowned rapper Mistah F.A.B. released “Mac Dre Presents Mistah F.A.B. - Son of a Pimp” in 2005 featuring the huge regional hit - “Super Sic Wit It” featuring E-40. The single ends up taking the Hyphy movement in a whole different direction, with the song lyric - “I do the dummy, retarded, and ride the yellow bus”. The Hyphy movement revolves around “acting a fool” and FAB took it one step further with these lyrics.

The song and the album propelled FAB to regional stardom. Soon every artist in the bay area started calling, wanting him to guest star on their albums. He was also featured on the MTV special, “My Block - The Bay” which caught the interest of many major labels - FAB decided to roll with Atlantic Records.

It is not unusual these days for an artist to be signed to two labels at once. After negotiating with Atlantic, the Bay Area giant, SMC Recordings was able to secure a deal with Favea Afta Ent and FAB as well for the independent release of DA BAYDESTRIAN. Will Bronson, Co-Founder of SMC speaks on his longstanding business relationship with FAB, “FAB and my history is crazy, we pretty much came up together. To be involved in this album and everything FAB's got going on- as corny as it sounds- is beyond business, this shit is personal, but that's the way independent music should be."

Pastor Troy Addresses Recent Police Shooting In North Carolina

New York, NY, April 16, 2007 - The senseless murders of officers Sean Clark and Jeffery Shelton in East Charlotte, NC on March 31st was a horrible tragedy. Thankfully police have apprehended and charged a suspect, Demeatrius Montgomery, with two counts of first-degree murder in their deaths.

Through reports from the media and police, It has come to the attention of hip hop artist, Pastor Troy, that the police speculate that the suspect was possibly listening to his single, “Murda Man“ shortly before the shooting.

The fact that Pastor Troy's music has been linked to this terrible heartbreak is very unsettling to him.

“My condolences go out to the families of officers Clark, Shelton and the family of the suspect. This album came out in 2005 and through out my career I have never been involved in an incident like this. It is ridiculous to blame Demeatrius Montgomery actions on my music. We don't know what he was going through”.

Although this tragedy occurred, it is irrelevant that the suspect listened to rap music before the shooting.
Even more unsettling, it seems that the media are helping the suspect by trying to establish a defense for him in this murder and excuse his actions. Stating that he drank brandy and listened to rap music before the shooting seems almost like the blame is being put on the alcohol and the music and not on the individual who committed this atrocious crime.

It is troubling that the media continues to associate Pastor Troy's name to this crime. Troy wants peace for the families involved and has asked that the media stop linking his name to this horror in the press.

“I Don't Know Why (I Love You)” The Brand New Heavies Featuring N’dea Davenport

First Single From The Original Brand New Heavies In Over A Decade!
And Lead Song In The New Chris Rock Movie!

Single Release Date - Digital: 30th April 2007

The legendary Brand New Heavies have reunited with original lead singer N’Dea Davenport and are set to release their first single together in over a decade with the forthcoming 'I Don't Know Why (I Love You)'

Billboard Magazine recently described NDea’s voice as “one of the seven wonders of the world”, and that is an apt description for this powerful vocal performance, on this cover of the timeless Stevie Wonder little-known classic, “I Don’t Know Why (I Love You)”.

This song will also be the lead music over the intro credits for Chris Rocks directorial debut “I Think I Love My Wife”, an adult comedy, which will premier this summer in the UK, and opens in the US on 16th March. Footage from the movie also features in the video. The band will be in the UK for promotion around the single release, before returning to international tour dates.

As is customary with the Brand New Heavies the single is supported by a dazzling remix package including Masters at Work supremo Kenny Dope, hot dance producers and remixers Seamus Haji and Paul Emanuel, the Mercury prize nominated 4Hero, US superstar DJ Spinna, and the legendary Tom Moulton, the original master of soul mixes (Gloria Gaynor, Donna Summer, etc).

The mixes have received outstanding support from DJs all over the nation, from Graeme Park to John Jones, are enjoying heavy rotation in clubland and have debuted in the top 10 of the Buzz and Coolcuts charts. So far they have been played on Radio 1 essential mix show, supported by House FM, Ministry of Sound, BBC 1Xtra, Kiss, and GALAXY. Described by London’s top DJ’s as a “Peak time bomb waiting to go off”, “awesome”, “Perfect for peak time mayhem”, “Brand New Heavies do it again” prove the Heavies are back in full force on the dance floor.

The Brand New Heavies have had a busy 12 months. Since re-uniting with N’Dea, they have written, recorded and released a new studio album, Get Used To It, in the US in July 2006 via their long standing relationship with Delicious Vinyl, the label that signed the band in the early 90s and introduced them to Davenport.

The new album has met with universal acclaim by their fans and media alike, with the band completing over 30 US tour dates in 2006, including the Voodoo and Essence music festivals. The band has also performed on the Jimmy Kimmel and Conan O’Brien TV shows in the US as part of the promotion for their new album. “Get Used To It” was released in the UK in October 2006, ahead of schedule to meet fans’ demand, on the band’s own label, TBNH, and the band have dates lined up in a myriad of countries going into the spring and summer.

Recent live performance highlights included an invite to perform at the legendary Harlem Apollo in New York last October, and a February sell out show at the Barbican, London as part of the BBC Soul Britannia series, and 7 dates in Japan in December 06.

New York, NY, March 29, 2007 - On top of being one of the most influential artists in Hip-Hop, Scarface has proved to have one of the best ears for talent in the game. Check his track record: multi-platinum and Grammy award winning Ludacris and underground hero Devin The Dude to name a couple. Next up is Green City- the Killeen, Texas collective who plan to usher in the next wave of Southern hip hop.

Scarface has always had a lot of clout and influence in the South, staying aligned to the streets, recognizing talent and creating cutting edge music going back to the days when he was a member of The Geto Boys. Ever since those days in the early 90's, Scarface was aware of the untapped talent brewing in the South. Later he launched his solo career, breaking away from his group and eventually his influence in the South became so evident, Def Jam put their faith in him and made him head of their Southern division.

After dealing with majors, Scarface decided it was time to make his move and start his own label, giving birth to Underground Railroad. His first project was the critically acclaimed group, The Product, which was an immediate independent success. Scarface knew he was on to something and it was time to go full steam ahead with Underground Railroad.

Scarface discovered Green City while working out at his local gym in Houston, TX. Two Pro-boxers, also at the gym that day, had attended high school with the members of Green City and were working out to the group's music. Scarface approached them to find out what single they were playing. Thinking they were already signed, Scarface was ready to go out and buy their album. When he found out that they were a local group from Killeen, TX who did not have a record deal, Face was so impressed by their skills, he was ready to sign Green City on the spot! Scarface explains his knack for finding talent nationwide, “I am the best in the business when it comes to finding raw talent. I brought Chamillionaire, Paul Wall, Lil' Flip and TI to Def Jam, but they didn't bite. I end up going to Killeen TX and found Green City. They are on some different shit, something you've never heard before. I stepped out of the box for Green City cause they bring a new flavor, they just do what they do. They party 24-7, for them it's just a big ass party, but they get things done. They have the best presentation I have ever seen for a group trying to get signed, people have been sleeping on Green City. They are young and I don't want anyone I need to baby-sit, but they don't need a babysitter. The people I got on Scarface Presents - you can buy any of their albums without looking at it, it is going to be that kind of high quality every single time. I take into consideration what I am up against since the industry is shifting. I am trying to make the best stuff for the listeners and I am going to make Scarface Presents one of the biggest brands in music”. Two weeks later, Green City was signed to Underground Railroad and were in Scarface's studio in Houston, TX recording their new album, Brand New Money.

Green City is comprised of 7 members - Spark Dawg, Mike Hee, Yung Texxus, MJ, J. Scott, Big Spade and G-Ni.
All the members met in Killeen High School except for G-Ni, he originally hails from Atlanta and is also the group's in house producer. Big Spade is featured on a track or two on Brand New Money, but is currently locked up on a parole violation. The name Green City comes from their hometown, Killeen. It's slang that represents both money and the city of Killeen. Green City is not only a rap group, it is also a click, and a movement in Killeen with over 50 members.

The group is still in awe of the fact that they are signed to Scarface's label. Spark Dawg expresses his amazement and gratitude, “It's surreal that we're working with him - he is our hero, and a legend in all of our eyes. No other person in Texas or even the South can give you such a big co-sign other than Face. We can't lose with him backing us up/having our back, we are blessed to be working with him.” Mike Hee agrees, “Working with Face, it was kind of unbelievable, I thought I would never meet him, he is the King of the South and for him to have our back was like him giving us a G pass to anywhere, everybody respects him - he started this shit out here! He put Texas rap music on the map!”

Green City's first single off the album will be “Like A Porn Star (Party like a Rock Star)" - featuring Mannie Fresh and will be serviced nationally in the coming weeks. With their debut album, Brand New Money, set to hit stores June 19th

Music Attorney helps DJs avoid jail

ATLANTA, GA - January 17, 2007 - Music mogul, Entertainment Attorney Dedra Davis', takes an aggressive move towards educating DJs on how to make money, but stay out of jail.

The breaking news of the arrest of Atlanta's internationally acclaimed DJ Drama, has brought to the forefront the continuing issue of DJs/producers making and selling mixed CDs. Attorney Davis has agreed to sponsor the 1st 100 radio and club DJs admission into her 5th Annual LISTEN AND EXCHANGE™ event weekend, February 23 - 24, 2007, where they will receive complimentary legal, as well as practical, information about how to make their music, but avoid any brushes with the law. The two day extravaganza also includes a CD listening session, artists' showcase, open mic and plenty of music and food to be enjoyed.

Allhiphop.com reported in the DJ Drama matter, "These guys are actively advertising online. They've got a website that they're advertising from, that's where you place your orders and that's how the orders are shipped out," Matthew Kilgo of the RIAA told local reporters. "Statistics also show that you can make up to a 90% profit just off the resale of counterfeit CDs. So there's huge money to be made in it, and there's no stigma attached to purchasing it."

Music Attorney Davis agrees that DJs are the VIP’s that stand between new artists and the radio waves, the personalities that wake us up and get us through work and rush hour traffic. They are the focused spinners in the headphones behind the booth, with hours of the hottest mixes at their fingertips, and they are at our favorite and most memorable parties, clubs, concerts and events. And, with the latest phenomenon of mix tape mania in popular urban music, collaboration with the right DJ can break an aspiring artist. Equally an endorsement drop from any industry DJ veteran can bring widespread recognition to an aspiring artist. Ask anyone in the music industry from the rookies to the pros about the value of a DJ and they will tell you that the DJs are priceless.

DJs that are interested in the complimentary admission to the 5th Annual LISTEN AND EXCHANGE™ event weekend can contact Music Attorney Davis at 713-981-3861, or DEDRADAVIS@musiclw.com. The first 100 DJs to register will receive the "weekend special" compliments of Attorney Davis.

DJs can look forward to meeting many talented artists, including the newest DJs on the music scene nationwide who have created a buzz and a following in their local communities. Additionally the attending DJs will be some of the first to hear the next future stars of the industry. DJs at the event will have a wide selection from hundreds of the latest, freshest music from some of the industry's most talented up-and-coming artists, producers, and songwriters from all genres of music from across the globe.

SCHOLARMAN OF ELSE WHERE? ENTERTAINMENT SET TO DROP "CANDY MEDICINE"

Bowie, MD – October 27, 2006 – Many of us are able to remember those days as a youngster when that dreadful wintertime cold came over us. We would come in from school or from playing outside with a red nose, itching eyes, drippy nose hoping that mom will be able to work her magic and heal the aches and pains. Many mothers were able to take one look at our face and know exactly what medicine to grab, and knew precisely how to give you the medicine. For those who hated taking medicine, there was a technique that is still used widely today called "putting the medicine in the candy," as a result disguising the medicine inside of a treat, a method that grew to be very effective; paving the way for many medicine products today that taste, feel and look like typical candy from the corner store.

The hip-hop industry is sick ladies and gentlemen, every time you turn on your radio it's like stepping outside in 30 degree weather without a winter a coat, the end result being a virus that gets into your soul and marinates until you get one thing – Candy Medicine. The concept is simple, medicine that is not apparent, but instead transparently working its way into your system inside of candy that you are used to.

Let's face it; listening to mainstream hip-hop today can be a sickening experience for some and its time for the hip-hop community to heal. What happened to hip-hop music with soul, with heart? What happened to hip-hop music that didn't glorify material wealth but instead hip-hop music that focused on keeping the culture alive? This type of music still exists, from your Common's, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Dead Prez, Kanye West, Little Brother, but the top 40 virus has it in its control, and only releases like Candy Medicine can free it.

Candy Medicine is the latest effort from revolutionary emcee and producer ScholarMan, previously known as Scholar. Scholar is now legally ScholarMan, separating himself from the many Scholar's in the music industry, not only by name but by sound as well. Candy Medicine consists of 12 tracks, solely produced and written by Scholar with one goal in mind – to heal. How does it heal? Through tunes you can nod your head to, and gain something from, real hip-hop. On this album ScholarMan explains his view on what real hip-hop is, and it's worth a listen. From pounding beats, inspirational lyrics and an underlying message on every track, ScholarMan sets himself apart with every track.

This holiday season; pick up "Candy Medicine" if you enjoy classic hip-hop music with a message. "Candy Medicine" is coming soon to CD Baby, iTunes, eBay, and other retail chains. Please contact the Else Where? Music Group for discounted wholesale orders at:
