With it’s legendary all-city bombers, its rappers and emcees, its breakers, its DJs, its dedicated magazines and retrospective books, and its advertising firms and check writers recognizing the salability of it all, New York, the original epicenter of modern “street” art and “urban” culture, has spawned derivative efforts worldwide.
