Chuckie Campbell (@ChuckieC2) "All I Meant" featuring Cole Jonique
I shouldn't have to say this but, Hiphop is more than burners, bling and bitches or Boom Bap. Have some people tell it, you're either a purists or you're a sell out. That's hardly a train of though that supports the evolution of art and culture. Let’s call this piece a short film that sits off center in a gray playing field; the teams involved of course are black and white.
The vid for Chucki Campbell’s "All I Meant" featuring Cole Jonique is ambitious in it’s presentation. It feels like an upgraded twist on old school music videos from movie soundtracks that blend in footage of the main characters with shots of the performing artist and of course interpretive dance scenes. This is obviously conceptual. The track sonically is atypical for rap vocals and as far as content goes, well there aren’t many songs about relationships and one’s responsibility within them, considering everyone actually has them. It doesn’t fit the description of what ‘real’ Hiphop is or what dying terrestrial radio would deem ‘hot’. To say the least it shouts a genuine attempt at honesty within the music and visual creativity never mind it's par with the look of most of today’s high quality, big budget music video offerings. Whether or not it actually 'works' is for you to decide? (Truth be told I’m mostly affected by the vocals of Cole Jonique and dance movements of Precious Lanee.)

True 2 Life Music - Daily Math
Well someone studied the most effective way to keep eyes glued to a screen to watch an entire video. Now I have to download the song, I must admit I didn't capture anything being said the first go around.

Brother Ali - Only Life I Know
Brother Ali speaks for the down trodden and oppressed who unfortunately happen to make up a sizable portion of the citizens that live in America, one of the globes riches nations mind you. How do you like that? A story far of us know too well, depicted visually in high contrast but even still desaturated fashion. This song and video are proof that Hiphop is still the CNN of the streets. Don't let anyone tell you any different.

Let It All Go - Blackswiss Ft.Bobby Rose
Not very often do you hear a Hiphop song or see a video aimed at a mainstream type audience where the male artist takes full responsibility for a failed relationship. "In Let It All Go" featuring singer Bobby Rose, Blackswiss' infidelity is the nail in the coffin that sends his love interest into the arms of another man. In life there are times when an apology simply isn't enough.

Bisco Smith X Peter Jay (Jackson P) - Corner Store Elixir
Even though he sorta abandoned us by heading west to continue his life's journey, we don't hold it against him. We have much love for Bisc. If you don't know'em you should. A very talented artist when it comes to both sound and visual work. His catalog continues grow as does his being. You can always rely on the one they call Bisco Smith to deliver passionate music that he believes in. After listening, you should too.

Q & A With Emcee Jermaine?
1. What are the Gone in 60 Seconds video promo clips all about? These promos (there will be three installments) are basically meant to showcase some of my talent as well as my content as an emcee. I wanted to make something just long enough for people to determine if they would like to hear more of me or not.
2. As an emcee what is your main goal?
I would say my main goal is to help bring honest, QUALITY hip hop to the forefront once more. There are already people out there doing this as well, so I would just like to contribute wherever and however I can.
3. What led you to participate in the art form; What have you learned about yourself during the process of becoming an emcee?
I think like a lot of young kids growing up in urban areas, I initially started out by pretty much imitating what I heard on the radio...for me that was the likes of Public Enemy, De La Soul, Rakim, and my hometown group Poor Righteous Teachers. It got really serious for me when I started "battling" other rappers. It made me really sharpen up my presence, my delivery, and content. In most rapper circles growing up I was an unknown, but I wouldn't allow that to deter me.
4. What's your process for rhyme creation like?
For some reason I usually think of a concept for a song well before I've written it. On most occasions I'll just let the thoughts from the concept stew in my head for a couple of days. By the time I sit down to write, the song usually writes itself. There are also other occasions where I'm inspired and am able to write a song literally in minutes.
5. Who do you feel most influences your style?
As far as my style, there are two people who I would have to say were the most influential: Kool G. Rap and Ghostface. I remember Kool G. Rap (in my opinion) had some of the most well constructed verses. Everything made sense and also rhymed almost perfectly. My delivery is where I've been heavily influenced by Ghost. Here's a dude who can say just about anything and make you feel it...because the way he delivers his verses is almost like what electricity would sound like if you put it to a hip hop beat.
Check out Gone In 60 Seconds Part 1.
